Peter Lion was inclined towards writing at a very young age. During his growing up years in Connecticut he was seen dabbling in poetry and also wrote numerous short stories. His talent in this field was further perfected when after joining the Notre Dame High School in Connecticut he started contributing to the students school newspaper.
He set out to create a career of his passion for the words first by getting a degree in Journalism from the Southern Connecticut State University. He printed his first magazine article in the Hartford Magazine before he graduated with his journalism degree.
He entered to the television business before he had completed his college. A few months before graduation, Peter Lion took up employment with WTNH-TV as part time graphics operator. This television channel was an associate of the ABC network and was based out of New Haven. Peter Lion though, had no experience in this field grabbed this opportunity to gain an entry and also to develop a foothold in the news and tv industry.
He learned the ropes quickly, comprehending the technicalities of the workings of the television network and continued to be a part of the channel for over a period of 2 years.
He then moved to Boston and started working together with WSBK as a Technical Director. He labored on several projects, his major one being the Boston Red Sox Baseball and Boston Bruins Hockey. However, his desire to be in television with the exceptional passion for writing pulled him back in his home state as a part of a small television station start up.
He joined this team to be a director and a technical director for the 10 PM news cast, that was to become the very first in the state. He grabbed this opportunity of showcasing his talent and knowledge as with his stint in Boston he’s had the capacity of working together with several accomplished directors. He used this understanding to build the show from scratch.
Peter Lion relocated to Pittsburg and joined KADA TV after completing a couple of years with this start up. In his stint with this television network, he exploited the many elements of his expertise and worked as a weather anchor, announcer, news producer, feature producer and director. It had been during his stint at KADA-TV that Peter Lion found inspiration for his book titled The American St. Nick”.
He then moved back in Connecticut and became a part of ESPN sports network. Still a part of ESPN, he is responsible for a number of their shows such as Sports Centre as well as the NFL Draft in his position within the organization as a Director. His primary show however, remains, College Gameday.
He has been a two time winner of the Emmy awards, although he has been nominated many times for his contribution in the television industry. He got his first Emmy for his work in Sports Centre and received his second Emmy for the show NFL countdown.
Apart from working, Peter Lion is presently working on his second book. He is additionally a part of a band that goes by the name of Cheaper than Therapy” and is its lead singer and guitarist
